The price we pay for energy will fall in April. The commodity markets have been dropping for a while now and it's slowly - finally - feeding through into our bills.12% lower. That’s pretty close to the 14% predicted by Cornwall Insight.
What does that mean for the cost of running a heat pump vs your gas boiler?
Electricity has become marginally more expensive relative to gas. It's now 4.1x gas, up from 3.9x. 1-0 to burning fossils.
Standing charges are up, again. The price you pay to connect to the gas grid - whether you use it or not - is up 6%.
