Not the Spotify of heat pumps
Aira has been called the Spotify of heat pumps. I don't think that's right.
Most of the manufacturers are experts in the pumps & pipes. They are good at hardware. But when I do anything with my heat pump, it's through the app.
I don't touch the box outside. It doesn't have a single button anyway.
So how is the app? Not so good. You get the sense that it was built by hardware people.
The CEO of Aira UK, Daniel Särefjord, said they have as many software developers as they do hardware engineers. Yes! Better UX, harnessing ML and a modern stack. It's a hard problem to take on. But it's also the path to market domination.
So, going big, taking on the old guard, with a software-first approach. Who does that sound like?
Are Aira the Tesla of heat pumps?
